  • MySQL Product Renaming Refined
    Starting with MySQL 4.0, MySQL AB has introduced a new product naming scheme to offer customers more choice and to have a clearer distinction between the different versions offered for download.
     
  • German First Level Support starts 2003
    Beginning in January 2003 customers with a valid MySQL support contract can get German first level support through the MySQL GmbH in Nürtingen, Germany. There is no special agreement necessary.
     
  • MySQL Control Center
    MySQL AB has introduced a new graphical administration tool for MySQL. MySQL Control Center is a simple to use GPL multi-platform GUI client tool to manage MySQL Servers.

  • Security vulnerabilities in MySQL resolved
    MySQL AB announced on Thu, 12 Dec 2002 the availability of MySQL 3.23.54. Apart from fixing several bugs, this release also resolves multiple security vulnerabilities that have been found and reported to us by Stefan Esser from e-matters GmbH, Germany. All users of MySQL 3.23 are advised to upgrade to version 3.23.54. MySQL 4.0 is also affected by this and updated binary packages will be made available shortly.

    On 9-13 December 2002, the MySQL Training Team was joined up by Rasmus Lerdorf for the first ever MySQL/PHP course held by MySQL AB. For five days, they instructed fifteen LAMP developers close to San Francisco in the course titled "Developing Dynamic Web Applications with MySQL and PHP".
