“Can’t Miss” sessions The “Can’t Miss” sessions include: · MySQL Stored Procedures Presented for First Time. MySQL stored procedures will presented for the first time publicly by the MySQL AB developer managing this important feature, Per Erik Martin. · "A Guided Tour of the MySQL Source Code," by Michael "Monty" Widenius, MySQL AB co-founder and CTO and MySQL’s Zak Greant. · "The Anatomy of the MySQL Query Optimizer," by Monty Widenius and Igor Babaev. · "MySQL Connector/J: Using MySQL from Java,” by Mark Matthews, MySQL AB developer, and creator of the popular MySQL JDBC driver, MM.MySQL. · Paul DuBois, well-known MySQL author, will deliver a tutorial on using MySQL with Ruby, the powerhouse Open Source scripting language. · Jeremy Zawodny, one of the world's most experienced MySQL users at Yahoo! Finance, will present tutorials on optimizing and replicating MySQL. · David Harper & Ed Zuiderwijk from the Welcome Trust Sanger Institute will share how MySQL was instrumental in a project for decoding the DNA of many organisms responsible for deadly human diseases such as malaria, leprosy, typhoid fever and sleeping sickness.
General Sessions General session highlights of the MySQL Users Conference include: · Sun Microsystems software group executive vice president, Jonathan Schwartz, will present the keynote address titled, "History Repeats Itself: What Linux Can Learn From the Unix Wars." · MySQL AB founders David Axmark and Monty Widenius will present the "State of the Dolphin" address. · MySQL AB CEO Mårten Mickos will share his ideas on the "State of MySQL AB". · User Panel: “Open Source in Government,” with representatives from The US Census Bureau, NASA, the state of Rhode Island and the National Center for Atmospheric Research.

Expo Hall with MySQL Partners While sessions are in progress, the exhibit hall will feature some of MySQL’s top partners with leading MySQL-related products and strategies. Intel will show off their Itanium 2 processor that can support huge MySQL databases, Novell will demonstrate how MySQL integrates with their products, and Rackspace will show you how they support MySQL in their managed hosting service.
After-Hours Activities After the official program there will be unofficial program.
