MySQL Users Conference 2005 - Call for Papers is Open
Silicon Valley, California
April 18-21, 2005

The MySQL Users Conference 2005 will be the largest gathering of MySQL developers and users. Individuals and companies interested in making presentations or giving tutorials are invited to submit proposals. The theme this year is "MySQL Everywhere." Proposals should be focused on helping attendees:

  • Harness the full power of MySQL, including best practices
  • Learn and use new features in MySQL 5.0
  • Learn from experts who have used MySQL in various application architectures (Web, Data Warehouse, Cluster, Embedded, etc.)
  • Migrate from proprietary databases to MySQL

Case Study: Sony Reduces Database Costs with MySQL

Sony's original Content Management Systems, FileNet, did not satisfy their requirements out of the box. FileNet had to be heavily customized using Microsoft SQL Server and Active Server Pages using external consulting resources. Since Sony had successfully implemented MySQL in other projects, they began rewriting the Content Management solution based on the LAMP stack.

Case Study: Fortum Relies on MySQL to Monitor Power Plant in Real Time

Fortum's Hogdalan power plant near Stockholm, Sweden, is one of Europe's most modern facilities for waste incineration. New Release of MySQL (4.1.6 Gamma) is Now Available

This is the third 4.1 gamma release, mainly fixing recently discovered bugs in preparation for the upcoming production release. This release includes:

  • InnoDB: Added the startup option and settable global variable innodb_max_purge_lag for delaying INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE operations when the purge operations are lagging.
  • InnoDB: The innodb_autoextend_increment startup option that was introduced in release 4.1.5 was made a settable global variable.
  • TIMESTAMP columns now can store NULL values.
