MySQL 2003 Survey is over. We want to thank everyone involved, especially those, who submitted their answers. About 30 randomly selected people will receive their MySQL T-shirts shortly. Below are some findings from the results.
Typical MySQL user is 19-45 year old male. His most often used MySQL platform is Linux (80%), but he typically runs MySQL in mixed OS environment, like Windows platforms (60%), *BSD platforms (20%) and SUN platforms (15%). The person typically visits MySQL website between once per week to once per month. Main support channels are the MySQL Manual & MySQL Website, although faster way to get support could be the paid support via MySQL AB.
As a development item for the newsletter most people wanted to have more general MySQL product information (future plans, future features, etc.), MySQL Server related tips & stories, MySQL API (ODBC/JDBC/PHP...) related tips & stories. For the “Automatic Notification” newsletter most wanted topics were: New version release information, MySQL Security notes, Solved & open MySQL bugs & MySQL news. These will be addressed in the future development of the MySQL Newsletter, first improvements implemented for the May MySQL Newsletter, that is planned to go out on Thursday 29th of May.
