MySQL Newsletter Letter from the CEO

Dear MySQL users, customers and partners,

Thank you for trusting us with your business. Our sales figures continue to grow steadily, and I am fortunate to announce that in Q2 we beat our budget once again. Revenues were significantly higher and costs were slightly lower than budgeted.

This allows us to move on with our plans to bring you even more value. For instance, in addition to our native and highly popular ODBC and JDBC drivers, we now also have a .NET provider for all those who develop applications in the Visual Studio .NET environment. Other new features are in the pipeline.

We also have set up subsidiaries with sales offices in two key markets: USA and Germany. This allows us to better serve all those software and network equipment vendors who increasingly use MySQL as the embedded database in their new applications and products. MySQL is today being shipped with all major Linux distributions, on all Mac OS X servers, on the Sun Solaris 9 Companion CD, and on Sun's Cobalt, DELL Poweredge, and many other appliances. We are very much the database of choice for new websites, applications and products.

I look forward to an exciting second half of 2002 with good, solid product development in the background and some new marketing initiatives in the forefront.
