Updates to MORTPAK 4

The documentation and help file for the MORTPAK version 4 series have not been updated.

This is a brief summary of enhancements to MORTPAK 4.0.

Version 4.1 (Dec 2009):  New installation procedure so that MORTPAK is compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Version 4.2 (Mar 2011):  The worksheet output has been expanded for CEBCS, ORPHAN and WIDOW.  (1) CEBCS output now displays a child mortality table and the reference date is also displayed in numeric "decimal" format for easier creation of time series graphs.  (2) ORPHAN and WIDOW now displays q(15,45) and q(15,35) tables plus the reference date in numeric "decimal" format.

Documentation

The MORTPAK CD-ROM contains the documentation for the program in two alternative formats:

  • MANUAL.pdf is an Adobe Acrobat file.  It can be opened and printed directly by Acrobat Reader. If Acrobat Reader is not available on your system, it can be downloaded from the Adobe web site (www.adobe.com).
  • MANUAL.doc is a Microsoft Word 2000 file.  It can also be opened by other word processors, including WordPad, a program supplied with the Windows operating system.  Depending on your word processor and printer setup, the file may print differently.  If you are using a word processor other than Word 2000 to create a hard copy of the documentation, use print preview to see if the file conversion is giving acceptable results.

To print the manual, choose “Print Manual” from the help menu in MORTPAK and follow the instructions.

Documentation is also provided as Windows help files that can be accessed from within MORTPAK4. To access the documentation in this form while using MORTPAK4, click on "Help" from the menu on the top of your screen, and then select "Contents" from the sub-menu.

Uninstalling MORTPAK

To uninstall MORTPAK4, open Windows "Control Panel" and select "Add or Remove programs".  From the list of installed software, select MORTPAK and click "Remove".
